The Return: A Guest Post by Lunazul Rosa

Thank you Lunazul Rosa for sharing this beautiful poem and song here.

The Return

It is true when they say
I’m a child of the Sun.
Mother Olmec Father Toltec Sister Aztec,
Mexica sings you a song:
Look at me front and center
Look at me feathers and all
Look at our corn that is Blue
Look at our blood that is strong.
It is true when they said that they killed us
It is true when we couldn’t hold on
But look at me now when I sing here
Look at me dance to this song.
It is true when they said that they killed us
Now it’s true that I’m singing this song.
This heart that is here is eternal
This heart that is here has Returned.
It is true when they say
I’m a child of the Sun
It is true when they say we are strong.
Here’s a verse from the sea that’s forever
Here’s a dance from the peaks that is Tlaloc
Here’s the tears that were shed in the fire
Here’s the love from the skies that we honor…
To the Sun and the Moon that sustain us
To the ancients that never forgot us
It is true when they say that they killed us
It is true, now you see, we’ve Returned
With a song that belongs to the rivers
With this blood that belongs to the world.
It is true that you see I am here now
It is true, now you know,

I’ve Returned.
